OUR MISSION
Haverhill Clubhouse is a place where a person
with a mental illness can belong, be needed,
and find the support and help they deserve.
Haverhill Clubhouse offers respect, hope and
unlimited opportunity to access the same
worlds of friendship, housing, education and
employment as the rest of society.
Our vision is that all people with mental
illness achieve their potential, are respected
as co-workers, neighbors and friends and
become contributing and valued members of
society.
Haverhill Clubhouse has been a part of the greater
Haverhill community since 1987, helping adults
struggling with the effects of mental illness.  Work is at
the heart of our community, driven by the philosophy
that work restores a person's dignity, self respect and
independence.
Haverhill Clubhouse is a program of Mental Health
Resources Plus, and receives the majority of funding
through the Massachusetts Department of Mental
Health.  Other funding is through the
generosity of
individuals and local companies.  Haverhill Clubhouse has
received the highest level of certification from the
International Center for Clubhouse Development.

The clubhouse model has three major components,
which you can learn more about on this web page:
The
Work Ordered Day, Employment and Social Activities.
Within those components members can find and be part
of a diversity of services, including:

  • Housing Support.  Haverhill Clubhouse owns three
subsidized apartments and each work unit provides any
needed support to members in these apartments.  The
clubhouse also assists members securing and
    maintaining their own housing.
  • Employment opportunities that provide Haverhill
Clubhouse members a chance to work in real jobs in the
    greater Haverhill area.
  • Three work units, where members and staff work side by
side to keep the clubhouse running and where members
    build their confidence and skills.
  • A Wellness Program, that has involved smoking
cessation classes, a health fair, and daily trips to the
    YMCA during our lunch break.
  • A Young Adult Committee, which actively supports our 30
    and under members.
  • Education opportunities ranging from computer skills,
basic literacy, GED prep and supports for our members
    in college.
  • Support for members with addictions, through Dual
Recovery Anonymous meetings twice a week.
  • A community that provides friendship, hope and
    opportunity.

We provide support to about 200 members each year.  In the
last year,
  • Average Attendance during the week: 38
  • Over 40% of our members were employed
  • 93 members received housing support
  • 37 members received educational support
  • Close to 321 members received outreach during times
    when they have been inactive
